Guest Room Refresh- One Room Challenge

Week 1- Plan

One look at the before shots of this guest room and you will understand why I chose it for the One Room Challenge!  I mean, it needs help.  Major help.  Over the coming weeks I will walk you through my plan to update this space using minimal supplies and lots of things we already have given the ongoing COVID 19 crisis.  My goal here is to transform this space with a small budget and minimal shopping trips!  Wish me luck!

Mood Board

Project 1

The walls.  I’m hoping to do a bit of an unexpected wall update and then freshen things up with paint.  I’ve got a black and white theme in mind with some warm wood and natural elements incorporated as well to keep it warm and inviting.

Project 2

Add a pop of fun wall art using scrap wood!  Nothing like using what you’ve got to make a really cool art piece, amiright?!

Project 3

A Desker.  I’m hoping to create a desk/dresser combo to keep this room functional for guests (if people are ever actually allowed to visit again) but also provide more functionality for my own family.  Like maybe a change of scenery for homeschool…or a place for my husband and I to have a drink after the kids go to bed.

Project 4

Ikea Daybed Hack.  I want to update this daybed to look a bit more modern.  I love how functional it is as both seating and a place for guests to sleep.  It just needs a little love.

Project 5

Fireplace update.  While I’d love to add a mantle to this fireplace, I just don’t think that is in the cards right now.  But I’m guessing after all the other updates and change in color schemes, the fireplace will need some updating and styling too.  Plans to come as this whole thing unfolds.

Project 6

Floating shelves, maybe a bar cart, details, details.  Towards the end I hope to pull everything together and finalize some details in preparation for the final reveal!

I wish I could update the lighting and flooring as part of this challenge as well, but I’m just not sure we are in the position to do all that right now, during this time.  But who knows?!  Maybe I will cave.
